Environmental education

The PPGNC develops actions involving the environmental education of riverside populations, in addition to promoting interaction between residents of urban and peri-urban areas in their immediate context. These actions are best illustrated through the work of the Ornithology and Bioacoustic Laboratory team (LOBIO / UFPA), led by professor Maria Luisa da Silva, and who works in terra firma forest environments and in coastal areas, in Marapanim-PA, located in the Salgado region, through the project called “Use of bioacoustic tools in the assessment of avifauna biodiversity in a fragment of Amazonian forest on the outskirts of Belém, PA”, in execution since March 2003.

Scientific divulgation

Within the scope of scientific dissemination, the Program runs an event called “Brain Week”, coordinated by student Givago Souza, in which the doors of UFPA laboratories are opened to the community, the purpose of this action being the dissemination of research related to neurosciences . In this sense, PPGNC also participates in the “Brain Awareness Week”, promoted by Dana Foudantion, from the United States, allowing the dissemination of the knowledge produced by the program.
